Memory for PSVita

Which memory card will work with the PS Vita?

The other day someone asked me which memory cards work with the new PS Vita as there old memory stick pro duo no longer fits.

Well on the new Sony Handheld Gaming System PS Vita you need to purchase the memory card which has been specially designed for the unit by Sony.

There are few different storage sizes you can purchase for the PS Vita which include (4Gb, 8Gb, 16Gb and 32Gb).

Remember to keep in mind that if you are wanting to download games or copy media onto the PS Vita, you will need a memory card. Also the bigger the memory card the more you can store which then means you don't need to delete data or resort to buying another memory card.

Laptop runs slower on battery

Did you know....

On most, if not all laptops they have a power saving option, so when you unplug your laptop they can run slower and dim the display in order to make the battery last longer. This is a great feature for when you are not using anything too powerful on your laptop. However if you are running a game or high end program this can cause a few problems.

To change any of these power saving options, you can simply click on the battery icon in the bottom right of the screen and select the desired setting you require. Be warned though; even though your machine will run faster the battery life can be dramatically reduced (so you may need your charger on standby).

Buying a new Graphics Card

Thought this may be helpful to a few people who are looking at buying a new graphics card for there computer.

Which One?

Chances are you are wanting to buy a better graphics card for either gaming or some kind of program which requires a high end graphics card. My best advice for this is not to look at which graphics card is on offer and hope this will do everything you need it to, but to look at the programs requirements to run the game or program. You will sometimes find that they will have a website which can recommend a graphics card which will work perfect for the game and/or program you are wanting it for.

Found a Graphics card now what?

Don't be so eager to just put this new piece of equipment straight into your computer. I have spoke to a few people who have bought some new hardware; like a graphics card and all there computer will do is blue screen randomly.

All graphics cards require a certain amount of power to run correctly otherwise to protect itself, the computer will shut down and display this blue screen error message.

On the new graphics cards you have found, find out how much power is needed, It will usually recommend an ideal power supply (E.g 400W, 450W, 500W etc), at a minimum you need what the graphics card recommends but ideally more will make your computer more future proof if you need to upgrade anything else.

Installing the new graphic card:

I would never say DO NOT INSTALL YOURSELF! however i would say be very careful, with changing a graphics card there is a few delicate obstacles in your way for example the CPU, Memory and motherboard. So just be wary and try to keep your self earthed so there are no static damages to your computer.

Drivers?

Great now you have your new graphics card installed you need to ensure you have the latest drivers installed. To rule out any issues of the drivers conflicting, I would recommend uninstalling any old drivers before installing the new ones and remember to check for any updates as there may have been a small bug which has been fixed in a driver update (Most drivers software gives you the option to check for updates so you don't need to search the Internet for them).

New Laptop in the pipe line

Well, it seems with the new windows 8 coming out very soon; there is a new laptop to follow! They are not doing it in half's.

I have seen a few laptops already advertised to pre-order and wow....

Touch screen is now moving to some new laptops. the laptops are also brighter and have clearer displays. The satisfactions of these machines are just as amazing. I dare say they could make vista look fast ;)

EEEEKKKK!! Windows 8 Nearly Here

This may not be everyone's cup of tea BUT Microsoft's new operating system is nearly here:

WINDOWS 8

I have done quite a bit of research on this and also completed a lot of training and i must say this does look amazing.

It can be quite daunting when a new operating system is released. Not knowing whether to stick with your current windows or bite the bullet and take the new windows out for a spin.

I must say, even though Microsoft have revamped the new windows and changed the way you navigate round your computer, it has definitely been done for the best.

Using the new Metro style live tabs you can keep up to date with things like news and weather by just having a quick glance at your start screen.

I was not sure if I would be a fan of the look and feel of windows 8 but I have been converted. Say you want to surf the Internet, you simply click the Internet tab and you are immersed in the website no start bar in the way and no address bar taking up space.

Microsoft have also made it easier to find safe trusted apps and games by having the windows store just a click away where you can find many fun and useful apps. At first I was a bit set back when I could not find a search bar to search through all the applications in the windows market. HOWEVER windows 8 has a search icon in the windows charms which is contextual and will search on either the app you have open; or if you search straight from the start screen it will search for nearly anything on your computer or search the internet.

But long story short you only need to have a quick play on windows 8 when it is released to understand what you are missing.

P.S - This blog is not even taking a pinch of the amount of new functions and features windows 8 has to offer.

October 2012 VIRUS!!

There seems to be a new virus infecting a few computers. It is displayed as you log into windows and the virus tries to imitate the "Metropolitan Police".

The few computers I have seen this on, is only infected because their anti virus database was just a few days out of date (E.g: not used computer for a couple of days).

Please do not be fooled into following the steps on screen to pay for this to be removed as they will just take your money and leave the virus on your computer.

I have already helped a few people remove this virus. A couple of which have already been tricked into paying what they believed to be a legitimate virus removal....

I am always happy to help. So if anyone needs any more information on this and tips on how to remove please feel free to ask.

P.S - a few times I have had to resort to deleting all the files on a computer to completely remove this virus so please remember to back up your important data on a regular basis.
